American Arts Incubator: Addressing Social Inclusion with Art and Technology in Ecuador
Super psyched to share that I am 1 of 6 artists participating in American Arts Incubator, a program of ZERO1 and U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Each of the 6 artists is paired with a US Embassy abroad to co-labor with a local organization and community members to address a challenge through art and technology.
I have been presented with the following challenge for 2018: "Beatrice Glow’s exchange will focus on social inclusion by leveraging new media art to tell stories that shift dominant narratives. She aims to work with a variety of community members, including Afro-Ecuadorian and refugee populations, to help pinpoint the ecosystem of challenges they face. Her workshops will be centered on understanding local public policy and the restoration of environmental and community health."
This is nothing short of a daunting task! The objective is that whatever methodology I share can grow into sustainable and replicable tools with can continue locally beyond my short exchange. I would love to hear if you had a similar experience or have insights into approaching the work!
